Cornish Cove with Falling Rocks

Cornish Cove with Falling Rocks

There is a particular drama to the Cornish cliffs , ancient, fractured and forever changing . Rocks settle, roll into the tide. The cliff face holds its history in layers of lichen, mineral and time. Rounded and angular rock forms in slate, grey and sage tumble across a ground of the most vivid ochre and gold — punctuated by a strip of clear teal water below and bare winter branches above. The composition is bold and perfectly balanced — tipping, almost falling, yet completely held. It is a painting about impermanence. About the way the natural world shifts and changes beneath our feet whether we are watching or not.
